Matthew Brook KC has successfully prosecuted Mohammed Samak, for the brutal murder of his wife Jo. The Defendant, who had played international hockey for both Egypt and England, stabbed his wife 6 times in the family home, in the middle of the night. He then waiting an hour before calling the emergency services, during which time he hid his blooded clothing in the loft. The Defendant’s defence at trial was that his wife had stabbed herself. The pathology could not assist as to whether Jo’s death was murder or suicide, but through a careful and detailed analysis of the evidence, the Prosecution were able to prove to the jury that the Defendant’s account was a complete lie.
