Charity Announcement

We are delighted to announce that the Stroke Association has been chosen as this years official charity for our upcoming Strictly 9 to 5 evening on the 10th December.

As many of you will know, our CEO, colleague and friend, Tony McDaid, suffered a stroke in January 2024. A healthy and active man, the severity of that stroke was plain to see. A life changed in an instant. Tony was fortunate to live to tell his story, but not without significant challenges. The road to recovery from a stroke can be long and tough, both mentally and physically, with hopeful highs and brutal lows. The Stroke Association is there to support people like Tony from the moment that they suffer a stroke through to, hopefully, a full recovery.

This inspiring organisation works tirelessly to support stroke survivors and their families, fund vital research, and raise awareness across the UK. We’re honoured to dance, raise funds, and shine a spotlight on their incredible work.

“We are delighted that the evening will be used to support the Stroke Association, a charity that is so close to our hearts. Tony has been such a colossus of the legal world not just for No5 but for Birmingham, the West Midlands and the wider Legal community (highlighted by the fact he was the first non lawyer to be appointed President of the Birmingham Law Society in 2022). Tony has been the heartbeat of No5 for over 40 years, he has been steadfast, dedicated and always gone about his job with integrity and passion. His contribution has shaped who No5 Barristers’ Chambers are today and we are profoundly grateful.”
