Harpreet Sandhu KC and Daniel Oscroft prosecuted two defendants who were convicted of the manslaughter of an 80-year old man, Bhim Kohli.
The defendants were aged 14 and 12 years respectively when they killed their victim. He had been subjected to what the prosecution described as “gratuitous violence” by the male defendant. The female defendant had encouraged the violence of her co-accused. She had filmed some of the events which resulted in Bhim Kohli sustaining fatal injuries.
The trial, which was presided over by Turner J in the Crown Court at Leicester, attracted national media attention.
The defendants will be sentenced in May 2025.
