Andrew Wallace prosecuted the actor Alexander Westwood, who following a lengthy trial, in which he steadfastly denied all the allegations, was convicted of a catalogue of sexual offences against 5 separate victims. Whilst Westwood was convicted of 26 Counts, many of those counts were multiple offence counts requiring the Jury to be sure that he had in fact committed at least 77 individual acts of sexual abuse, including rapes.
Alexander Westwood was the product of poor parenting and pornography which he accessed from a very early age, and which inspired his offending. He was a highly manipulative and controlling individual and rightly described as narcissistic. He became a sexual predator and a serial child sex abuser on a substantial scale from the age of 10.
Four of the victims of his sexual abuse were children. The severe psychological impact on his victims was immense, and 3 of them tearfully read harrowing Victim Personal Statements at the sentence hearing.
Two of his victims were teenage girls with ambitions to be actresses and to get into drama schools. The Defendant used his minor celebrity status, holding himself out as an acting teacher. He made them act out naked sex scenes for real, touching them and raping one of them regularly. When one of them tried to stop coming to lessons, he went to extreme coercive ends to prevent her from telling anyone. He threatened to go to the principal of the drama school she had applied to to stop her getting a place there, and thereby ruin her career prospects and he bullied her into signing a phony contract obliging her to pay him thousands of pounds if she did not carry on attending for lessons.
On 25th February 2025 he was sentenced to 15 ½ years in prison and as a dangerous offender has to serve an additional 4-year licence period on release. (Total 19 ½ years).
