We are delighted to announce that Peter Goatley KC and Michelle Heeley KC have been elected as joint Heads of Chambers, with effect from Wednesday 1st January 2025, succeeding Adrian Keeling KC and Jonathan Jones KC.
Tony McDaid, Chief Executive and Director of Clerking at No5, welcomed the announcement and paid tribute to Adrian and Johnny: “Chambers is immensely grateful to Adrian and Johnny who have led by example and excelled throughout their tenure. I am looking forward to working with the new Joint Heads, Peter and Michelle. Both Peter and Michelle have served on the No5 Management Committee for many years and have sat on the Executive Committee for the last five years. It has always been clear that they both have the skills and calibre to be Heads of No5, and their individual qualities complement each other.”
Peter Goatley KC was called to the Bar in 1992 and took Silk in 2020. He is a recognised leader in the field of Planning and Environment, with particular expertise in residential development, commercial development and crematoria.
Michelle Heeley KC was called to the Bar in 2001 and was appointed Silk in 2017. She has acted in some of the most high profile murder and rape cases of recent times, and takes on Head of Chambers having recently finished her term of office as Leader of Circuit.
On their election, Peter and Michelle said: “We are delighted and honoured to lead No5. Both of us started out as Pupils here and it is a great privilege to now serve as Head of the Chambers in which we have both built our careers”
No5 Barristers’ Chambers has offices in Birmingham, London and Bristol. It is one of the largest set in the UK with more than 260 members including 41 Kings Counsel.
