Harpreet Sandhu KC and Daniel Oscroft were instructed by the Complex Casework Unit to prosecute a man who killed his three-week old son and assaulted his mother and his wife.

The defendant suggested that he was not guilty by reason of insanity.  He called three consultant forensic psychiatrists in support of his defence.   His defence was tested and rejected by the jury.

Following a trial which lasted almost five weeks, the defendant was convicted of manslaughter by reason of diminished responsibility (as the prosecution suggested he should be) and of two counts of unlawful wounding.
