Chloe Ashley together with Edward Brown KC of QEB Hollis Whiteman, acted for the Prosecution in the case of Sakander Hussain who was found guilty of killing former councillor, Wallis Webb following a 4 week trial at Birmingham Crown Court.

Mr Webb was found dead at his home address on 6th February 2024  following reports from his family that they had been unable to contact him. When police attended upon his flat in Erdington it emerged that he had been fatally stabbed.

The court heard that after launching this unprovoked attack on Mr Webb, Sakander Hussain had, in the days following the murder used Mr Webb’s bank card to make a number of purchases totalling over £400.

Sakander Hussain pleaded guilty to fraud before his trial but denied murder, citing psychiatric issues after initially claiming not to be involved in Mr Webb’s death.

He later recounted on that defence, admitting he was there and claiming he acted in self-defence. By way of their verdict the jury rejected his account.

Experts were also deployed in the fields of Pathology, Forensics, Blood Splatter, Psychiatry and Psychology.

Mr Hussain will be sentenced at later date.

Chloe and Edward were instructed by Lucy Myatt of the West Midlands Crown Prosecution Service.
