The inquest into the death of Christopher Kapessa, who died aged 13 after drowning in the River Cynon in July 2019, resumed on Monday in Pontypridd Coroner’s Court.

Over the next two weeks, the Court will hear evidence relating to the circumstances of Christopher’s death in order to establish how it came about.

The CPS previously decided not to charge a boy with manslaughter as it considered that such a prosecution was not in the public interest.

Serena Sekhon, led by Michael Mansfield KC, represents Christopher’s family, instructed by Daniel Cooper of Imran Khan & Partners.
