No5 Barristers’ Chambers are pleased to announce that the King has appointed Adreeja Chatterjee as a Circuit Judge on the advice of the Lord Chancellor and the former Lord Chief Justice of England and Wales.

Adreeja will be deployed on the Midlands Circuit, based in Derby, with effect from the 13th November 2023.

Adreeja, who will be known as Her Honour Judge Chatterjee, was a member of the Family Group at No5 and prior to her appointment, had been appointed as a Deputy District Judge in 2019 and as a Recorder in 2022.

Richard Hadley, Head of the Family Group, said, “A long, long time ago, I can still remember… it was 2002 when Adreeja joined No5 and she has been a stalwart ever since. She has ably negotiated her way through highly successful practices in both Family Law and the Court of Protection. Her energy, enthusiasm and cordiality will be greatly missed in Chambers, but her loss to No5 will be a significant gain to the bench. She moves on with our gratitude, affection and pride that we have yet another colleague joining the judiciary.”
