No5 Barristers’ Chambers are pleased to announce that the King has appointed Helen Arthur as a circuit judge on the advice of the Lord Chancellor and the Lord Chief Justice of England and Wales.
Helen will be deployed on the Midlands Circuit, based in Wolverhampton, with effect from the 16th October 2023.
Helen, who will be known as Her Honour Judge Arthur, was a member of the Family Group at No5 and prior to her appointment, had been appointed as a Recorder in 2022.
Richard Hadley, Head of the Family Group, said, “The minute she walked in the joint, I could tell she was a counsel of distinction, a real hard worker … And so it was in June 2006 that, despite other opportunities, Helen chose No5 from which to practice, and we are extremely grateful that she did. In the following 17 years, she cemented herself as a stalwart of the Family Team and she will be dearly missed. However, it is with much pride that No5 chambers see her take a richly deserved position as a circuit judge, and I have no doubt that her intellectual and enthusiastic talent will be as much of an asset to the bench as it has been to the bar.”
