No5 Barristers Chambers is pleased to congratulate Mark Kelly QC, David Tyack QC and John Coughlan QC on their appointment to silk with effect from Monday 15th March 2021. These appointments take the number of silks in Chambers to 35.
Mark Kelly QC is a member of the Crime and Regulatory Groups at No5 and is a defence barrister, called to the Bar in 1985. Mark has worked in competition law in the European Commission and studied European Law at the College of Europe in Bruges. His practice is predominantly comprised of serious fraud work including multi-million-pound carousel/MTIC, education, internet and bank fraud. He also has vast experience defending cases of alleged sexual misconduct.
David Tyack QC is a member of both the Personal Injury and Clinical Negligence Groups at No5. David was called to the Bar in 1994 and undertakes high value and complex cases. David has expertise in a variety of clinical negligence cases, including brain injury and cerebral palsy, cancer, gynaecology and obstetrics, medical, spinal injury and surgical. His background knowledge and familiarity with medical issues complements his personal injury practice which involves serious and catastrophic injuries.
Called to the Bar in 1999, John Coughlan QC is a member of the Personal Injury and Clinical Negligence Groups at No5. His clinical negligence caseload includes obstetric injury including brain injury and brachial plexus injury, delays in treatment and diagnosis and life-changing injuries arising from surgical and medical mismanagement. His personal injury practice is focused principally on catastrophic cases arising from brain and spinal injury, serious orthopaedic injury (including amputation) and psychiatric injury.
