After a six-week trial in Manchester Jamie Rothwell was found not guilty of two counts of conspiracy to murder and two counts of conspiracy to cause grievous bodily harm.

The jury heard evidence that Rothwell was a leading figure in a Manchester gang called the Anti-A-Team who had gone to war with another gang, the A-Team. The war involved at least seven shootings, with handguns, shotguns and an UZI submachine gun. Rothwell himself was shot in a revenge attack for allegedly throwing a hand grenade through a rival gang member’s window. He was charged with conspiring to shoot one man and conspiring to murder another with machetes.

After deliberating for two days the jury returned unanimous not guilty verdicts against him.
