Barristers from No5 Chambers’ Business and Property team have volunteered to assist with a new initiative organised by the ChBA, COMBAR and TECBAR to assist potential new entrants to the profession from minority groups and backgrounds.
The ChBA’s and COMBAR’s Equality & Diversity Sub-Committees and TECBAR’s BAME Network have teamed up to organise mock interviews and CV reviews for students considering pupillage applications in the field of Business and Property. Students who have expressed interest in particular areas of practice within the Business and Property umbrella and have been matched with barristers nationwide practising in corresponding areas. Mock interviews and CV reviews are being carried out by video link over the coming weeks in compliance with ongoing COVID19 restrictions.
No5 Barristers’ Chambers remains mindful that BPTC students from BAME backgrounds are statistically less likely to obtain pupillage than their white counterparts* and is eager to do its part in seeking to redress this imbalance.
