A jury has returned a guilty verdict at an attempted murder trial prosecuted by Talbir Singh of No5 Barristers’ Chambers.

Adam Shaw of Furlong Road, Tunstall, who repeatedly stabbed a teenager in an attack at a house in Stoke-on-Trent has been found guilty of attempted murder by a jury at Stafford Crown Court.

Shaw, 34,  had gone to an address in Mallorie Road, Norton, at 11pm on 10 September where, Mr Singh said, he set about his 19-year-old victim with a machete in the back garden and caused substantial injuries to his head, arms and hands, including the loss of a fingertip.

Witnesses also heard him shout: “I am going to chop your head off.”

Shaw fled the scene in a car while the victim escaped to a nearby garden and an ambulance was called.

Shaw was found guilty of attempted murder and possessing an offensive weapon and will be sentenced on April 6.
