The pithily titled Damages for Bereavement (Variation of Sum) (England and Wales) Order 2020 will raise the bereavement award pursuant to section 1A(3) of the Fatal Accidents Act 1976 to £15,120 in cases where the cause of action accrues on or after 1st May 2020.
This is the first increase to the bereavement award since 2013.
