Three men have been jailed for more than 70 years over the fatal stabbing of a 17-year-old, following a five-week trial at Birmingham Crown Court, prosecuted by Michael Duck QC.

Abdullah Muhammad, 17, was knifed in the chest in Sara Park, Small Heath, on February 20.

Demille Innis, 19, of Pugh Crescent, Walsall, admitted murder and two robberies five days into the trial and Amarii Tulloch, 20, of Stratford Road, Sparkhill, and Delero Walters, 18, of Florence Road, Handsworth, were found guilty of robbery two people and Abdullah’s manslaughter. They were acquitted of murder.

Innis was jailed for life, with a minimum term of 29 years and six months, while Tulloch was locked up for 23 years and Walters for 21.

Previously Mr Duck told the court the trio had gone out armed with a knife and spent hours identifying victims. They threatened and robbed two people of their phones and watches before carrying out the fatal stabbing a short distance away in Sara Park in Small Heath.

Abdullah and his brother, who was 15 at the time, were walking through the park when they fell victim to the unprovoked attack. The younger boy was almost instantly knocked to the ground and injuries to Abdulla’s hand suggest he attempted to disarm Innis.

Despite the efforts of members of the public and the emergency services Abdullah died at the scene from a single stab wound to his chest.

The trio fled the scene and Tulloch later travelled to Bradford to evade police but was arrested on March 10. All three were arrested and charged by March 22.
