No5 Barristers’ Chambers has once again confirmed its standing as one of the leading sets of barristers in the country in the annual Legal 500.

The league table, which is seen as one of the most authoritative guides to UK law firms, said No5 is an ‘efficient, well run set’ that is able to ‘offer a wide selection of counsel, with strength and depth in a variety of legal areas’.

Legal 500 provides an independent guide to UK law firms, and its rankings are much anticipated within the industry. It noted that, with its origin in Birmingham and a strong presence in London and Bristol, No5 ‘consistently produces remarkable and talented barristers nationwide’.

Counsel are acknowledged as experts in their fields, with the set receiving recognition for its work in a variety of areas, including; Clinical Negligence, Commercial, Banking, Insolvency and Chancery Law, Construction, Planning and Environment, Costs, Court of Protection and Community Care, Crime, Employment, Family and Children Law, Immigration, Inquests and Inquiries, Personal Injury, Property, Public Law, Regulatory, Health & Safety and Licensing,

The Clinical Negligence team is described as a ‘go-to set for many specialist clinical negligence firms with a huge selection of specialists. The set is most notable for claimant work, however a number of members of chambers also have defendant practices as well’.

No5’s Personal Injury team is also praised for continuing to be a key presence in the Midlands ‘with members acting for both claimants and defendants in serious and complex issues’.

The Family team also came in for high praise, as, for some, No5 is seen as ‘the best chambers in the Midlands for family work’ and a ‘go-to for both finance and children matters’.

It was noted that No5’s large Crime team is recommended by clients for the ‘exceptional depth and calibre of counsel’ available for instruction across a full spectrum of criminal cases.

No5’s Regulatory Group gained recognition as being “‘one of the main sets for regulatory law in the Midlands’ and also has ‘excellent depth in its health and safety team”.

The Immigration Group was recognised as ‘one of the best immigration sets, according to its instructing solicitors’ moved up a rank in the table and “regularly appear in both First Tier Tribunal cases, as well as Upper Tribunal and Court of Appeal work”.

No5 is also praised for having counsel of the highest calibre’ across the full spectrum of Insolvency, Banking, Commercial and Chancery matters while it is noted for having a strong contingent of employment barristers, and for being ‘one of the main sets for regulatory law in the Midlands’ also having ‘excellent depth’ in its health and safety team’.
