Four advocates from No5 Barristers’ Chambers are involved in the trial of four men who face murder charges over the shooting of a 24-year-old man.
Montell Gray, 22, of Springfield Road, Wednesfield, 23-year-old Seamus Williams, of Okemont Drive, Wednesfield, Dwaine Smith, 25, of Chainmakers Close, Bilston, and 22-year-old Kurrum Guild, from Oakthorpe Gardens, Tividale, all deny murder, possession of a firearm and ammunition to endanger life and handling a stolen car.
Michael Burrows QC and Antonie Muller are prosecuting while Michael Duck QC and David Iles are acting for the defence for Montell Gray.
Victim Dwaine Haughton was in a Peugeot 207, being driven by his cousin Barrington Clarke, when it came to a halt in Valley Road, Park Village, Wolverhampton on July 20.
Moments later a stolen grey Audi A7 on false plates pulled up alongside just a few feet away and at least one of the four occupants got out and fired several shots into the Peugeot hitting Mr Haughton in the head, the jury at Wolverhampton Crown Court heard.
Mr Haughton was taken to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham where he was certified dead at 2.10am the following morning.
The Audi was torched the next day in Webb Street, Bilston Smith, Williams and Guild all deny arson.
