No5 Barristers’ Chambers is hosting an all-day clinical negligence seminar this month, with Dr Richard Hardie, a consultant neurologist and Honorary Senior Lecturer at Bristol University, invited as speaker.
The seminar, to be held on February 28th at M Shed in the city, will also include a talk by the Senior Coroner for Avon, Maira Voisin, as well members of the Chambers’ national Clinical Negligence Team.
Dr Simon Fox QC, chairing the conference, said: “The event is aimed at practitioners at all levels and will bring delegates up to date on the latest case law regarding breach of duty and causation together with specific knowledge on brain injury and inquests in hospital deaths.
“We are delighted that Dr Hardie will be joining us to share his expertise along with Maria Voisin.”
Dr Jonathan Punt, Mamta Gupta, David Tyack and Jon Derrington, all of No5 Barristers’ Chambers, will also speak during the event, with topics including hydrocephalus and CTG trace interpretation.
Dr Simon Fox QC, also of No5 Barristers’ Chambers, who is a medically-qualified specialist clinical negligence silk with more than 20 years’ experience, will give a talk examining the Bolam test.
The clinical negligence specialist is also hosting a seminar in London on the same subject, entitled Bolam is Dead. Long Live Bolam! He will highlight the recent changes to the test for breach of duty, when Bolam no longer applies and which test to apply to which cases.
