After 42 years at the Bar, of which the last 35 were at No5 Barristers’ Chambers, Jerry Cahill QC is announcing his retirement from the Bar.

Jerry would like to express his deep gratitude to all of his lay and professional clients for all the support that they have given him from early years in Personal Injury work to a Planning practice in silk. He is grateful also for the patience during busy times shown by his long suffering family and in particular Bettina. He wishes his colleagues and his clerks all the best for the future.

Jerry has enjoyed a long and successful career at the Bar and was widely regarded as one of the leading Planning Silks in the country for many years prior to his retirement. He has represented many of the nations most recognisable developers and housebuilders and has helped achieve planning permission for tens of thousands of new houses.

During his tenure as the Head of the Planning Group, the group enjoyed a significant increase in the number of Planning Court instructions and Jerry was instrumental in the recruitment and development of the junior members of the Group. He will be greatly missed by all of his colleagues in Chambers.

All of his friends and colleagues in Chambers would like to take this opportunity to wish Jerry and Bettina a long and happy retirement.
