Over 100 local authority planning delegates have benefited from the expertise of top barristers following a series of advisory seminars.

No5 Barristers’ Chambers Planning Group has hosted the Local Authorities Seminar Series in London, Bristol, Leicester and Leeds aimed at providing up-to-date information on planning and development as well as sessions dedicated to enforcement updates, with a further Birmingham date to be confirmed later in the year.

Representatives drawn from local, unitary and borough councils gained authoritative industry insights from prominent members of No5’s Planning Group, including Joint Head, Peter Goatley and Leading Silk Richard Humphreys QC.

Peter Goatley said: “These seminars are a demonstration of our commitment to our local authority clients who value our range and depth of expertise in planning work.”

The seminar topics included judicial reviews, heritage issues, how to bring forward plans for a new road and an overview of new provisions within the National Planning Policy Framework. Issues covered in the enforcement sessions included noise and odour nuisance, the impact of the Air Quality Directive on planning decisions and injunctions and stop notices.

Other forthcoming events planned by No5 include the Annual Planning Seminars at London and Bristol in autumn, which will include a briefing on the new NPFF following its likely issue at the end of July.  Full details can be found at No5.com/seminars
