Michael Burrows QC of No5 Barristers’ Chambers acted for the prosecution in the case of a predatory and dangerous sex offender sentenced to life in prison.
Ben Murphy, 31 from Kidderminster, must serve a minimum of eight years in prison for the attack on an underage schoolboy who was bound, blindfolded and raped at the defendant’s flat in December 2016.
At Worcester Crown Court this week, Murphy pleaded guilty to two counts of causing or inciting a child to engage in sexual activity and to seven counts of making indecent photographs of a child plus rape and false imprisonment.
He was described as a dangerous sexual offender who groomed his victim after meeting him on a bus, befriending him and plying him with cigarettes in order to satisfy his twisted sexual desire.
Murphy was convicted of the manslaughter of childhood friend Adrian Palmer in 2006 and sentenced to four years in prison.
