Jennifer Blair of No5 Barristers’ Chambers is spearheading the Legal Support Project for the Community Programme by Migrants Organise. The purpose of the project is to provide personal legal support to one of the most vulnerable communities in London. Clients can come in with a variety of legal problems ranging from immigration, family, crime, property and contract.
The Legal Support Project is looking for a legal volunteer who will available on Fridays from April to September 2018. The post-holder will work alongside Jennifer and a Legal Organiser.
The deadline for applications is 13th March 2018.
Jennifer said: “Migrants Organise has a unique support programme working intensively with a close-knit community group. The charity’s work is innovative – for example we are undertaking specialist work with adults at risk of enforcement action who lack capacity to instruct a solicitor. It is a wonderful privilege to be part of this charity’s work and we are looking forward to welcoming a new volunteer on board.”
Jennifer Blair is a member of the Immigration Group at No5. She will be speaking at this years’ Annual Immigration Seminars in the summer.
The Community Programme at Migrants Organise is currently supporting more than 280 individuals through its work. It matches asylum seekers and refugees with volunteer mentors for one-to-one support, offers casework support and runs weekly activities.
