No5 Chambers barrister Vinesh Mandalia has scooped an award for Barrister of the Year.
The Birmingham Law Society Legal Awards, now in its 15th year, were handed out on Thursday evening during a glittering ceremony held at the International Convention Centre. More than 560 people attended the event, which was hosted by writer and broadcaster Gyles Brandreth.
Mr Mandalia was one of three No5 barristers on the shortlist of five contesting the title, but secured the title ahead of No5’s new Head of Chambers Mark Anderson QC and Michael Duck QC.
Following the presentation, Mr Mandalia said: “I was thrilled simply to be nominated for this award, so to win is both inspiring and humbling.
“The awards are a fantastic celebration of the legal profession here in the Midlands, a showcase of the expertise and professionalism in practice every day. It was a superb evening and I feel privileged to have won the title of Barrister of the Year.”
Mr Mandalia is a leading junior for No5’s Public Law and Immigration Groups. He was called to the Bar in 1997 and has been a member of the Attorney General’s regional panel of counsel since 2003.
