Christopher Hopkins (Regulatory and Licensing Group) will be delivering a short update on forthcoming changes to sentencing in Health and Safety prosecutions that will have a significant impact upon both defendant individuals and organisations. New guidelines are due to take effect in January 2016 for these cases which will see the threshold for custody set at “negligence” for individuals and steep increases in fines. They follow the withdrawal of caps on Magistrates’ powers to fine earlier this year.

Christopher’s talk, organised by the Birmingham Health, Safety and Environment Association, will take place on Monday 14th September at 2pm at the Birmingham Medical Institution
