A man from Worksop, Nottinghamshire, has been jailed for life for killing his parents in which Michael Burrows QC prosecuted.

Kamil Dantes, originally from Poland, admitted manslaughter on the grounds of diminished responsibility and was jailed for 19 years.

His parents were both found dead in their bedroom on 21 April 2014.

Mr Dantes had more than 20 stab wounds and his wife between 25 and 30.

Mr Justice Haddon-Cave, at Nottingham Crown Court, said he attacked his parents in a ‘brutal and unprovoked manner’ and had an ‘abnormality of mental functioning’.

It was heard that Dantes had a history of drug use in particular a cannabis habit and had smoked the drug for 12 years. He was sectioned under the Mental Health Act.

He said: “This is another example of the danger of cannabis use and its ability to induce psychotic behaviour in young men.”

Kamil Dantes was ordered to serve his sentence in a high security hospital.
