Ashley Barton was cleared of attacking a woman in a nightclub with a beer bottle in which No5 Barrister Daniel Oscroft defended in.

Mr Barton has denied two charges of wounding with intent, telling the jury at Wolverhampton Crown Court he did nothing wrong.

It was heard in court that Mr Barton has started dancing with the woman, but she made it clear she was not interested in him by verbally swearing at him.

Mr Barton was stood near a table with glasses when the woman’s mother aggressively walked over to him, with raised arms.

Within seconds the pair had fallen to the floor taking the glass bottles with them. Mr Barton said that the injuries sustained must have been caused by shattered glass.

Mr Barton admitted his behaviour ‘wasn’t great, but didn’t do anything wrong’.
