On 16 June 2015 James Dixon appeared on behalf of Nathan Roberts in an out of time appeal against in IPP sentence before Lord Justice Bean, Mr Justice Spencer and HHJ Cooke QC.
The IPP sentence was imposed on 15 May 2006 for robbery. The minimum period of 12 months expired in 2007. The court gave judgment on 19 June 2015 and quashed the IPP.
This is another example of a successful appeal against such a success following, for example, the successes in Venables and Alex Li AKA Porya Sahampour in 2014 where indeterminate sentences were also quashed.
James was instructed to deal with parole but identified there was meritorious appeal, albeit years out of time.
