Michael Burrows QC, member of No5 Chambers Crime Group, has secured the conviction of Matthew Cherrington, who has been found guilty of the murder of Lidia Pascale.

A two-week trial at Birmingham Crown Court heard that Cherrington, 32, had arranged for Romanian born Miss Pascale, a prostitute, to visit his home in West Bromwich.

The trial heard that she received repeated blows to the head with a heavy weapon, and her body was found in a wheelie bin 16 days after she was seen going into his home.

The defendant denied the charge throughout the trial, trying to blame a friend, but the evidence was overwhelming.

The jury unanimously convicted him of her murder and Judge Melbourne Inman QC sentenced him to life in jail, with a minimum term of 19 years.
