No5 are delighted that Ian Brownhill has been shortlisted in the Legal Aid Barrister category at this years Legal Aid Lawyer of the Year Awards.
The Prisoners’ Advice Service nominated him, saying although still a relative newcomer to the profession, he is ‘knowledgeable and fierce in pursuit’ of his clients’ cases. His nomination follows on from No5’s S. Chelvan winning the award last year.
Nageena Khalique QC said: “This is a highly competitive award but it does not surprise me in the least that Ian has been nominated for the title of Legal Aid Barrister of the Year. He is a rising star at the Bar with immense brain power and talent to match and is a most worthy finalist. He is a remarkably tenacious and impressive advocate who provides a phenomenal 5 star service for the benefit of all his clients and deserves recognition for his unstinting commitment in the challenging sphere of publicly funded work.”
The winners will be announced at an awards ceremony on 1st July in London. The Legal Aid Practitioners Group have oraganised the LALY awards every year since 2003 on a not-for-profit basis.
