Tim Jones, member of No5 Chambers Planning and Environment Group, recently represented one of the claimants in a High Court case, which ruled that the secretary of state discriminated against travellers by intervening in appeals involving green belt pitches.
This ruling could trigger the review of many cases. Tim Jones said that Eric Pickles, communities secretary, will now be required to review his decisions to intervene in two cases. He said: “One of the judge’s criticisms of the secretary of state was that by recovering cases, he had caused excessive delays, he now needs to act promptly”.
Tim Jones was quoted in issue 1999, January 2015 of Planning Resource.
