Three people have been sentenced to a total of 27 years in jail after class A drugs worth over £1million were found in Staffordshire.
Leah Parkes, 28, Bury, Lancashire, was sentenced to 7 years and Charles Hendrie, 30, Bury, Lancashire, and Adib Asfour, 26, Wolverhampton, were both sentenced to 10 years each. All were convicted at a previous hearing at Stafford Crown Court on 22 October.
The trial heard that a hotel at J13 of the M6 in Stafford was used to meet, exchange and deal drugs.
A targeted stop-check by Central Motorway Police Group on 6 November 2013 found a suitcase containing 16 packages of MDMA in the boot of a car driven by Hendrie and Parkes. They were arrested, and the police investigation led to the arrest of Asfour.
DC Simon Bowden, Investigating officer at Staffordshire Police, said “We stopped 34.8kg of MDMA, with a street value of £1.05m, from getting on to the streets.
“Together with our partners we will continue to take a tough stance on criminals involved in drugs and related criminal behaviour.”
