Craig Birch, 31, Wolverhampton, has been found guilty of wounding with intent after stabbing Christopher Ramsey, but has been cleared of attempted murder.
Wolverhampton Crown Court heard that Birch arrived at the Harp Inn pub at around 2.30 am on 7th June, but was refused entry by doorman Christopher Ramsey for attempting to take a bottle of cognac inside.
Birch and Mr Ramsey were seen on CCTV ‘grappling and pushing’. Mr Ramsey was stabbed and underwent an emergency resuscitation, and suffered from kidney failure.
Following a trial at Wolverhampton Crown Court, Birch was found guilty of wounding with intent and has been sentenced to 14 years in jail.
Judge John Warner said: “He was simply doing his job as a door supervisor. He only survived through the skills of those dealing with him, but he still suffered terrible injuries that had life changing consequences for a good man.”
