Brendan Quinn, the boss of Causeway Retreat Rehab Clinic in Essex, has been struck off the nursing register due to his ‘flagrant disregard’ for the safety of patients.
Despite not being registered as a hospital, the rehab clinic allowed people with mental health problems to stay there, and medication without valid prescriptions was handed out by unqualified staff.
Quinn denied all the allegations at a Nursing and Midwifery Council hearing. James Spencer, Charman of the NMC told him: “you consistently put your own commercial needs above those of highly vulnerable patients”.
Susan Monaghan, Regulatory Barrister at No5 Chambers was instructed by the NMC as the legal assessor on this case.
