This week, Mugni Islam-Choudhury and Naomi Owen played the parts of trial advocates in a mock tribunal hosted by Mills and Reeve LLP, in conjunction with Future Faces.  The case was one of unfair dismissal by reason of gross misconduct – the misconduct in question being sexual harassment of a junior secretary by a project manager.

The event was attended by around 30 delegates spanning a range of business backgrounds.  The mock ET gave them an insight into the realities of a tribunal hearing; live cross examination highlighted the frequent perils and pitfalls that all too often trip up respondent companies (and tips were given as to how best they can be avoided). 

There was lively uptake in the Q&A session, with the audience vote at the end of the day mirroring the judge’s view that the Respondent was indeed liable.
