Dawn Huckerby, 45, has been jailed for 12 months after falsely claiming she was a single mother living alone and failing to declare her partner, Steven Daniels, was living with her. She received £73,000 in benefits that she was not entitled to.
Huckerby denied seven counts of benefit fraud, including received income support, job seekers allowance, and housing and council tax benefits between November 2005 and October 2011, but a Jury at Leicester Crown Court found her guilty.
Daniels, 54, was convicted of one count of benefit fraud and jailed for 8 months. He owned their home, as well as 3 other properties.
Simon Hunka, prosecuting, said “It was a fraud from the outset.”
