No5 Chambers is home to some of Britain’s foremost planning Silks and juniors in the country. This respected Planning Group has entered into a sponsorship agreement with the Town and Country Planning Association (TCPA) with the objective of supporting the Association’s Garden City principles.
Jeremy Cahill QC, Head of the Planning Group, explains: “I believe it’s fair to say that all the barristers – silks and juniors – within this No5 group, made the conscious decision to specialise in planning law because we wanted to play a positive role in arriving at the very best homes and environments where people and their families could live and flourish.
We were therefore very pleased to have the opportunity to engage in sponsorship of the TCPA’s Garden Cities’ initiatives.”
The Garden City Initiative is concerned with providing planned settlements for the 21st Century, which enhance the natural environment providing a foundation for high quality inclusive places to live for sustainable lifestyles by working with developers, designers, local authorities and community groups.
This sponsorship package supports the Town and Country Planning Association’s 1 day Conference ‘Garden City principles – from theory to practice’ taking place at St Martins in the Fields, Trafalgar Square on 15th May where Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg is providing the political keynote and Jeremy Cahill QC will be speaking during the day. The Planning Group is also supporting the TCPA publication ‘Garden Cities Today: A Practical Guide to Standards’ to be launched in Parliament in June 2014.
No5 Chambers Practice Director, Tony McDaid, comments: “Silks from the Planning Group regularly feature among the “top ten” in their specialism as determined by readers of core planning publications and researchers of legal directories. A number of junior barristers also recently featured in the top ten barristers under 35 as benchmarked by Planning magazine. Their success is can be attributed to their thorough, forensic understanding of planning legislation and their expert advocacy.”
Jeremy Cahill QC, Head of No5 Chambers’ Planning Group, along with Ian Dove QC and Martin Kingston QC recently featured in Planning Magazine’s roster of rated silks. Another directory reported that the Group has ‘a team of gifted advocates aided by a group of first-rate clerks, who together prove a good choice for large-scale complex planning inquiry work’.
