No5 Chambers hosted a double celebration on Friday 9th May to mark Rhona Campbell’s appointment as a Tribunal Judge and the elevation of John Butterfield as he joins the exalted ranks of Queen’s Counsel. Both have enjoyed glittering careers as criminal barristers at No5 Chambers, with Ms Campbell being called to the Bar in 1993 and Mr Butterfield in 1995.

John Butterfield is a member of the Midland Circuit and the Criminal Bar Association and sits as a recorder. Since being called to the Bar he has focused exclusively on prosecuting and defending in criminal cases, including ‘Operation Stanstead’, ‘Operation Larman’, ‘Operation Pragmatic’, the ‘Centrex Fraud’ and cases arising from the 2005 Birmingham riots.
Rhona Campbell was appointed Recorder in the Crown Court (SE Circuit) in 2009 and Tribunal Judge (Social Entitlement Chamber) in 2011. Her latest role sees her appointed Social Security Tribunal Chairman. She has often been selected by the DWP to prosecute in cases involving complicated financial issues while a previous career as a tax lawyer supported her success in multi-handed tax and duty evasion cases.
