Three football players from Whitehwak Football Club and two businessmen from Singapore have been accused of conspiring to alter the results of football games.
The jury at Birmingham Crown Court heard that Chann Sankaran, 33, and Krishna Ganeshan, 43, both from Singapore, came to the UK to find lower league players willing to take a bribe to fix the results of football matches.
A middleman, who isn’t named for legal reasons, introduced the pair to Whitehawk FC players Michael Boateng, 22, Hakeem Adelakun, 22, and Moses Swaibu, 24, who are all alleged to have accepted cash in exchange for them to act improperly in their jobs as professional footballers.
All of the men deny the charges against them, and the trial continues.
