John Anslow, 33, Tipton, is accused of organising the murder of Richard Deakin, who was shot in his home almost four years ago by Anslow’s Uncle, David Harrison.
Harrison and Darryl Dickens, the getaway driver, who ran a skip firm together have already been convicted of the murder.
Anslow has denied having heard of Mr Deakin, and said any phone contact between himself and Harrison was mostly about drugs.
Michael Burrows QC, prosecuting, asked Anslow why he changed his phone so soon after the murder was committed. Anslow said that David (Harrison) had told him to.
Mr Burrows QC also questioned Anslow on why phone contact between himself and Dickens, the getaway driver, had ceased around the time of the murder. Anslow said that he only spoke to Dickens about skips, “I’ve got 300 contacts in my phone at any one time. I only contacted him for skips. I don’t know the man that’s been killed, I knew nothing about him, it’s nothing to do with me.”
Anslow denies murder. The trial continues.
