Mohammed Liaqat Ali, 37, has been convicted of killing his wife Lilima Akhtar Munni, 27, in June last year at the home they used to share.
A trial at Birmingham Crown Court heard that Munni died from pressure to her neck.
The pair had an arranged marriage in 2004, and came to live in Birmingham together in 2005. Police discovered that the marriage broke down after Ali became involved in a dispute over land in Bangladesh with Lilma’s mother, which went on for months.
Ali was found guilty of strangling his wife at Birmingham Crown Court on 24th January, and was sentenced to life in prison, serving a minimum of 15 years.
