A total of 20 people who formed a drugs gang have been jailed for importing and distributing heroin in Birmingham. Police discovered two firearms and hundreds of thousands of pounds worth of cash linked to the group.

The last of the court hearings focused on the organiser of the group, Zaheer Hussain, 30, Lozells. His network of criminals were distributing large amounts of heroin across the city, which was being imported from Pakistan. Hussain was sentenced to 20 years in jail. Six others were also sentenced at Birmingham Crown Court, all received sentences between four and ten years.

Detective Inspector Martin Brennan who led the investigation said “This was the final chapter of an extremely complex investigation against a network of criminals who were distributing huge amounts of heroin in Birmingham.”

Officers will now use the Proceeds of Crime Act to recover the money made by the gang.
