Lisa Innamorati, 33, Studley, has pleaded guilty to stealing money from her mothers savings account between May 2011 and April 2013.
In May 2011, Lynne Doogan, Innamorati’s mother, had £117,500 in her savings account from the sale of her home. By April 2013 there was £5,600 left. Mrs Doogan had given her daughter authority to deal with Internet transfers from her saving account to her ordinary bank account.
The court heard that Innamorati had made 64 transactions to herself, usually about £1,000 at a time. Simon Hunka, defending, said that the offending started when a business she started with her former husband ran into trouble, and he left her with their two children.
Mrs Doogan did not realise what was happening with the money until she looked through some correspondence at her daughters home.
At Warwick Crown Court, Recorder Roger Evans decided that Innamorati should avoid jail for the sake of her two children. Simon Hunka said that she acknowledged a prison sentence was ‘richly deserved’, but added that “the impact on her children of a custodial sentence would be undeniably significant, and they are blameless in this.”
Innamorati was given a two year prison sentence, suspended for two years, ordered to carry out 200 hours unpaid work and pay a £100 victim surcharge.
