Jatiner Paul, 26, was jailed in February for causing death by dangerous driving after his friend, Rajesh Chalotra, 38, was killed during a race between the pair. Mr Chalotra suffered injuries when he lost control of his car and hit a wall and lamp post in Finchfield Road West, Wolverhampton.
Paul pleaded guilty at Birmingham Crown Court and was jailed for nine years, however, after an appeal by lawyers at the Court of Appeal in London his sentence was cut to eight years by three senior judges.
One of the judges, Lord Justice Treacy, said, “Our assessment, after considering all the factors in this case, is that the judge reached too high a figure,”
