Two Birmingham Law Students, Ben Leb and Richard Murtagh, have won the prestigious 2013 UK Environmental Law Association (UKELA) Student Prize Moot.
This year’s final of the mooting competition was held in June at UCL and concerned landfilling – the lawful treatment and disposal of household rubbish at regulated sites. The pair won an engraved trophy, a year’s membership to UKELA and also a mini-pupillage at No5 Chambers.
The winning pair said: “We’d both like to thank UKELA again for the excellent organisation, the judges for their time and everyone else involved, for this entire event has been a fulfilling experience.”
No5 Chambers sponsored the moot, and also provided preparation training for the participants. No5 member Tim Sheppard helped to organise the moot in conjunction with UKELA.
UKELA is a charity, which aims to improve the understanding of environmental law.
