Alex Stein prosecuted Special Metals Wiggin Limited at Worcester Crown Court. The company was fined £120,000 and ordered to pay £55,000 costs resulting from failings at its Holmer Road Plant in Hereford.

Foundry man Stephen Bond-Lewis had part of a casting machine fall and trap him. He suffered 25% burns to his body and was on a life-support machine for 18 hours. A co-worker also lost part of his finger trying to lift the machine off his colleague. Special Metals Wiggin admitted breaching health and safety regulations.
