Graham Day, 58, Droitwich, has been given a community order for downloading and distributing indecent images of children. He pleaded guilty to seven counts of making indecent images or children, and four charges of distributing them.

Day has been ordered to attend a sex offenders programme for three years, will be under the supervision of the probation service, must sign the sex offenders register for five years and is banned for life from working with children.

Samantha Forsyth, prosecuting, said that Day was working for BBC Radio Gloucestershire and was married with three children at the time of the offences. Police searched his home and found a total of 808 images, most of which were at the lowest level.

Judge Richard Rundell said it was futile to give Day a prison sentence, as there he would not receive the treatment he needs.
