An inquest has been opened into the death of 2 year old Mohammed Hayman Khurram, who died from suspected drowning on 24th November last year.
Police were called to investigate Mohammed’s death after Bradford Royal Infirmary raised concerns about the nature of the death. Two days later, the child’s parents were arrested on suspicion of manslaughter. Prosecutors are now considering the case before deciding whether or not to bring charges.
Detective Chief Inspector Jonathan Morgan, of West Yorkshire Police Homicide and Major Enquiry Team, said that they were notified about the suspected drowning and officers were sent to examine the scene. He said We asked for a forensic post-mortem. The cause of death was unascertained at the time.
“On November 27 and 28 respectively, Mohammed’s mum and dad were arrested on suspicion of manslaughter. They remain on bail. The Crown Prosecution Service is considering possible charges.”
Caroline Sumeray, Bradford’s Assistant Deputy Coroner, adjourned the inquest, which will be heard at a date to be fixed.
