John Taylor, 61, a funeral director from Herefordshire has been accused of murdering his wife and disposing the body.
Worcester Crown Court has heard that Alethea Taylor disappeared without trace in January 2012.
Michael Burrows KC, prosecuting, said that a crucial part of the case is the contradictions between Taylor’s account and the police evidence. Evidence including eyewitness accounts, text messages, phone records and camera footage all points towards Taylor.
Mr Burrows said “Mr Taylor says she simply disappeared – and that if she is dead he didn’t kill her”
