S. Chelvan will be delivering the 11th Stonewall Annual Lecture at the Law Society on the 5th of February. “From Silence to Safety: Protecting the Gay Refugee?” will examine the UK’s approach to asylum claims from gay applicants. The current major hurdle is having the ability to “prove” sexual identity. How can we make sure that asylum seekers are not subjected to inhumane procedures, in order to obtain safety?
